Meet the Staff - Find out a bit more about our staff!

Oona Gilbertson - After attending Lady Manners in Bakewell as a pupil, I began my teaching career in the heart of London. I've been Head teacher for 10 years and enjoy being part of a village community. When I am not being taxi driver for our busy children I like to cycle or run in the glorious Peak District and most weekends can be found gardening, baking or walking our two rescue dogs.

Hannah McGuire - I have taught across the key stages here at Eyam and it was after reading English at Oxford that I decided to become a teacher, completing my PGCE at Cambridge and taking up my role here at Eyam in 2013.  I currently work in our Infant class and love welcoming our EYFS pupils each September, as well as enjoying my role as a Primary Mastery Specialist with the East Midlands West Maths Hub, facilitating lively collaboration between colleagues across the cluster. I still love learning and am a keen reader outside of school. Living in the beautiful Hope Valley and currently on maternity leave, I also love to get out hiking with my two young children, whatever the weather!

Jamie Beresford - I feel very lucky to work at Eyam Primary School and have enjoyed learning about the history of the village. My favourite subject to teach is Maths, as I enjoy solving problems and shapes. Before I got into teaching I worked as a stonemason, where shapes were an important part of my work. I love animals; I have two rescue greyhounds called Nancy and Minnie and a retired racehorse called Indiana who I am training to jump. In my spare time, I like to spend time outside. I have recently joined the world of parenthood and am thoroughly enjoying being a dad.

Leanne Barrett -I worked in finance and law for many years before making the change into teaching, and I haven’t looked back. I love teaching at Eyam and being part of the lovely community we have here. While I grew up on the coast, I feel very grateful to live in a small village in the Peak District and never tire of the views. When I am not at school, I have two children who keep me very busy and I enjoy spending time walking and exploring with them and my little dog.

Chelsea Wragg - I feel very lucky to be working in such a wonderful village school and I love being part of the local community. When I’m not working I'm spending time with my two lovely children and our very naughty labradors. As a family we love walking, swimming and most of our time is spent exploring the outdoors. I have a huge passion for outdoor learning and the benefits it brings to children, helping them to build skills for life.

Pat Ridgeway - I have worked at Eyam School as a Teaching Assistant and HLTA for over 25 years, I enjoy working with the children at the school and it has been a wonderful experience.
At home I enjoy reading, baking and looking after my granddaughters, as well as travelling and experiencing new places

Sarah Hix - I’ve worked at School for 10 years as a midday supervisor and a teaching assistant. Away from work I’m a season ticket holder at Sheffield Wednesday I attend all home matches with my husband.
I also really enjoy family time at home, my daughter and I love spending time in the kitchen cooking for the family, while listening to cheesy pop music.

Ann Solman - I'm enjoying my new role at Eyam primary school working with lots of new children, staff and parents, I’ve felt really welcomed by all. I love walking and we go on lots of family walks with my 7 children and my rescue dog in Derbyshire and Wales going to different beaches. Our dogs love the seaside as much as we do.I like spending time in the garden and I’m enjoying growing some salad and veggies with the help of my mum .If I get any spare time I enjoy reading and baking.
