The children were able to keep time and sing to the backing track and then took up their instruments, playing together as an ensemble. Just look at the range of instruments from wind to brass to strings. The new class glockenspiels were well played - all the children were reading the notes. The children were performing to the Y5/6 parents. The children also learnt that the song was written by the English rock band the Beatles in 1968 It was written by Paul McCartneyin response to the downtrodden black community in the US in the 1960's. The children felt it's meaning still resonated today and that it showed that we should treat everyone with respect and the dignity they deserve.
