4th October 2017
As part of our Topic “Me and You” we have been learning about bodies and growth in Science, looking at how our bodies grow and what we need to do to keep them healthy. We owe a huge “thank you” to Jonty’s mummy Sophie who brought their new baby Tiggy in to meet us this week. We found out what babies can and cannot do and how Jonty’s family look after Tiggy. What a special afternoon 🙂
What a fabulous start we have had to the new school year! We have enjoyed our first PE lessons, modelled with salt dough, used the iPads to play number games and done some amazing poetry writing. Despite the mixed weather we have also been outdoors every day- playing in the water tray, riding bikes, gardening and of course taking part in our first Forest School session. After hiking to the woods we worked together in teams to search for insects and autumnal objects, learning to identify different leaves and helping Mrs Jones to light the Kelly Kettle for our delicious hot chocolate. It is great to see our new Reception children settling in so well.
Hello and welcome to a brand new school year and a brand new Hedgehog Class! Our new Reception children have spent two half days with us so far and have enjoyed digging, painting, building, biking and making new friends. Our Topic this half term is “Me and You”, and we will be thinking about the things which make us special, as well as looking at bodies and how to keep them healthy. Welcome to our new Hedgehog Class for 2016-17
Friday 14th July 2017
After having great fun trekking up to Hollowbrook wood with all our equipment, we enjoyed a whole morning of Forest School activities led by Mrs Jones today. We remembered all the rules for staying safe and enjoyed building dens, helping with the Kelly Kettle, whittling willow and toasting marshmallows and fruit bread on the fire. Delicious!
We are really enjoying our “S32” Topic in Hedgehog Class; we have explored maps, atlases and globes, sketched the view from the school field, planted vegetables and made models of our favourite buildings. We didn’t let the rain stop us getting out and about on Tuesday, either- with hoods up we enjoyed a walk all around the village, taking photos of all our special places and editing them on iPads back in school.
Friday 16th June 2017
What a fun morning we had at Hope Valley College’s Infant Sports Day! We took part in skipping, running, dribbling, balancing and throwing activities, using foam javelins and making friends with children from primary schools from all over the valley. A big “thank you” to the friendly Y10 helpers who showed us what to 🙂
9th June 2017
This week we have been recapping what we know about e-safety, and how to stay safe when we are online. As a class we thought of three basic rules for staying safe, creating a “Class Charter” which we all agreed on and signed. It is now on display in our classroom:

After weeks of hard work practising our singing, dancing and acting out it was finally time to get dressed up and perform our wonderful Nativity play “Whoops-A-Daisy Angel”! As part of our Coasts and Rivers Topic we went on a magical school trip to Poole’s Cavern in Buxton. It was full of twinkly Christmas lights and we saw stalactites and stalagmites.
